This past fall, the staff at Trio Solutions participated in the 13th annual Charleston Race for the Cure®. Little did we know this would be the last time we would see the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s name, logo and signature pink ribbon forever. “Komen for the Cure” was welcomed nationally on January 22, 2007 with a new name, logo, resolve and initiative.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation experienced what many organizations, for profit or non, big or small, do, the desire to set themselves apart from the competition. Competition may seem like a harsh word when it comes to something as altruistic as fighting breast cancer. But the fact is Komen recognized that other organizations using the signature pink ribbon during the month of October were being associated with their organization. Not only were they experiencing difficulty standing apart from other breast cancer organizations, there was a lack of consistency in the Komen brand among the affiliates. They needed to evaluate what was important to the organization and what goals they were to set over the next 20 years. One of the biggest changes resulting from the rebranding of Komen was a new name and fresh logo. The Susan G. Komen foundation is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the signature pink ribbon has had a facelift. Visit www.komenlowcountry.org to check out their new look!
