How Company Culture Drives Business Success
“No company, small or large, can win over the long run without energized employees who believe in the mission and understand how to achieve it.” – Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric
I am a firm believer that a healthy company culture improves the performance of a business in a number of areas. Luckily, I came to work for TRIO directly out of college and have had the opportunity to experience such a wonderful work environment for more than three years. I continuously have friends and family saying ‘you work at such a fun place’ or ‘I wish my company would do things like that.’ I couldn’t agree more.
I think of how fortunate we are that our leader has really somehow mastered the positive company culture on a day-to-day basis. Whether it’s encouraging the team to give back in a variety of ways (including our annual CreateAthon event), or organizing team get-togethers in and out of work to build morale and friendships, TRIO is a great example of how positive company culture improves the performance of the business through employee retention, productivity and quality of work produced.
Bonding rituals are a must around here. Also known as “fun patrol,” the TRIO crew definitely knows how to keep things entertaining. We find any excuse to celebrate – whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or simply the end of a long week. These activities not only increase team morale but also builds bond far greater than your average 9 to 5 friendship.
Another important factor a positive company culture is having an innovative office space. TRIO’s projects encourage collaboration on a day-to-day basis and our environment supports just that. If you step into our office space, you’ll notice everyone’s doors are usually open and people are in constant communication with one another. Whether you’re greeted by our office dog, Lucy, or some Beyonce background music, it’s clear we try to keep things uplifting and fun throughout the day.
TRIO’s philosophy of “Work hard. Enjoy life. Make a difference.” simply says it all. Through an innovative and fun company culture that encourages its employees to give back to the community, our team is inspired to work hard, simply because we love our jobs. It’s much easier to be productive and more efficient when you enjoy what you’re doing and feel like you’re making a difference.
