TRIO helps launch Supper and a Story
Bulldog Tours, Hamby Catering and TRIO have joined together to create a virtual supper club that includes a guided culinary history tour, comedy, a trivia game, and the opportunity to virtually connect with other locals. The supper club, known as the Charleston Quarantine Supper Club, is offering 12, limited-time-only “Supper and a Story” events. Proceeds from each reservation will support local nonprofit, Louie’s Kids.
“This concept was born out of our collective desire to support our food and beverage industry, as well as our local tour guides, who have been unemployed for over nine weeks,” explains John LaVerne, founder of Bulldog Tours. “When TRIO approached us about the concept, we had already been brainstorming how to take our popular culinary tours online so it was a natural tie-in.”
“We’re excited to also support a local nonprofit and our friends at Hamby Catering. We’ve all been hit hard during this pandemic, so being able to do something fun and give back at the same time is a home run.”
Housemade meals that include an appetizer, entrée, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage from Hamby Catering will be delivered to each attendee’s home on the night of the supper club. Attendees will join other locals and one of Bulldog Tours’ culinary food tour guides for a 45-50 minute, dining-storytelling experience.
“While dining restrictions may be relaxing, many Lowcountry residents are still preferring to stay quarantined and clamoring for new experiences in the comfort of their homes,“ says LaVerne.
The virtual “Supper and a Story” events will be available from May 20 to May 31. There are twelve events available over six days and at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Each event will be emceed by comedian, Michael Clayton. Clayton is a Charleston-native, who currently lives in Brooklyn, NY but is quarantining at home in the Lowcountry. One of Bulldog Tours’ tour guides will host the culinary tour and storytelling portion of the event.
Supper and a Story is available for $59 per person and available for a limited time. Each dining event will host up to ten “tables.” The experience will be available with an online Zoom meet-up invitation. For details on available dates, menus and to book your table, visit www.supperandastory.com.
