TRIO Clients Doing Their Part
When marketing plans and community engagement goals were planned for 2020, none of them included a response to a global pandemic. Covid-19 has impacted literally every aspect of the world as we know it, in ways nobody could have predicted. And as is the case with everything in life, it’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.   Â
It came as no surprise that our incredible portfolio of partners immediately knew how they were going to react. From healthcare to education to feeding our community, several of TRIO’s clients were on the frontlines, reacting with hope, compassion and a will to succeed!Â
So if you’re like us, (and John Krasinski) and you’re looking for a daily dose of some good news, read on because we’ve got lots to share.Â
Healthcare Heroes
From day one, Fetter Healthcare Network was hard at work setting up mobile-testing sites across the tri-county area and has been operational since early May, conducting more than 2,500+ tests in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Recently, they set up a fourth site in Colleton County that opened on June 1. All testing is free, so regardless of their ability to pay or if someone has insurance or not, they can come and get a walk-up or drive-up test at one of Fetter’s rotating locations (see coverage).
Safe, quality care from the comfort of your own home? That’s what providers like Charleston Allergy and Asthma and Charleston Dermatology offered their patients during the quarantine. They worked tirelessly to ensure everyone could still receive the medical care they needed no matter the circumstances. And they weren’t the only ones. We saw practices and urgent care facilities around the state responding to the needs of their communities. Thank you, Genesis Healthcare, Daniel Island Family Medicine, Sea Island Medical Lowcountry Urgent Care and Zip Clinic. We are proud to be your marketing communications partner!Â
Champions for Education
Caring for students by providing a safe space for them to learn and thrive as followers in Christ is what Catholic educators do best. When our friends at St. Peter’s Boys High School and Salesian High School in New York were forced to close their doors because of COVID-19, they immediately opened their hearts making sure every student and their family had the support they needed to succeed.Â
Effected early on in the outbreak, St. Peter’s Boys High School in Staten Island, NY, saw how their students and alumni were persevering despite the coronavirus pandemic. In response, they launched #EaglesEndure a social media campaign for the St. Peter’s families and friends that quickly turned into a multi-faceted fundraising and community engagement initiative, demonstrating the strength, compassion and resiliency of this amazing school community.Â
In New Rochelle, New York, a suburb of New York City—one of the hardest-hit areas during the COVID-19 outbreak, many of the Salesian High School families were impacted and facing financial hardship. Ready to help, the school launched #WeAreSalesian – an urgent fundraising appeal designed to provide for all those in need. The results of the appeal have been nothing short of miraculous including numerous donations, an increase in social media engagement, and a sponsorship with The Joe Piscopo Show to honor all New York City metro-area high school seniors.Â
Pivoting to a distance-learning environment, hand-delivering yard signs for seniors, virtual graduations and more, the Empire State families of these two great schools were covered in prayer and showered in love! TRIO is honored to have supported both communities.
Industry Leaders
Being a small business has not been easy these past few months, and as South Carolina begins to emerge from the quarantine, staying in tune with what your customers need and providing solutions is more important than ever.Â
That’s exactly what Poe Group Advisors has done! After years of helping buyers and sellers of accounting practices pursue their dreams, they noticed there were key elements that contributed to their long-term success. With a desire to help even more practice owners, they launched Accounting Practice Academy. An online workshop designed to help accounting practice owners apply simple, strategic steps to get their practice on track and ready to thrive. Able to recognize the need for owners’ success during the pandemic, they expedited the launch of this program to kick-off during COVID-19 so firm owners could use the most valuable information immediately and begin to transform their practice and thrive through the crisis and beyond.
VaughnBuilt is not just renovating homes, their restoring communities. In 2020, prior to the arrival of the coronavirus, owners David and Rebecca Vaughn had decided to launch a 12 Months of Giving campaign. They had a desire to give back to the community that had given so much to them and their business.Â
For the month of March, they had already pledged to partner with Lowcountry Blessing Box Project, but when COVID-19 hit, they not only helped to stock the boxes, they organized a food drive to do it! They partnered with friends and neighbors to make sure these boxes were stocked for as long as they needed to be.Â
Community Warriors
For almost 20 years, TRIO has aimed to work hard, enjoy life and make a difference. For many of our clients, our philosophy aligns well with their mission to serve. Here are some of the ways our nonprofit clients have been making a difference amidst the COVID chaos.Â
When basic needs like food become a concern for our neighbors, East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) is always there to help. When the quarantine went into effect and hundreds of people out of work, the need for assistance grew by leaps in bounds. Our friends at ECCO were on the frontlines doing everything they could to remain operational and safe so that all neighbors could get what they needed.
What happens when you have to cancel all after school activities? When little league and gyms are shut down when playdates and after-school programs are eliminated? Keeping kids and their families active during a global pandemic is no easy task. But Louie’s Kids was up for the challenge! Embracing the virtual workout, their amazing coaches continued to meet with their families and provide the support and encouragement that they needed. They also increased the amount of content they were putting out through social media to provide valuable health and fitness guidelines, nutritional tips, behavioral education and motivational inspiration to all of their followers.
For any organization trying to navigate your way through the crisis and still be able to serve those around you was uncharted territory. That’s were Together SC stepped in. They created specific resource blogs aligned with their strategic plan to help nonprofits and their members gain the latest information they needed to move forward. Speaking Together (advocacy efforts), Giving Together (grants and funding), Learning Together (webinars and training), to name a few. As our state and many of our businesses start to reopen, most recently, they launched Reopening Together, offering expert guidance and resources to help organizations and leaders resiliency-plan in order to emerge viable on the other side.
Bringing people together is at the heart of Transformation Table. Facilitating connection through in-person meetings was where the transformation began and the work they do was too important to come to a stop because of the quarantine. So like many others, they launched digital happy hours and BYODinner gatherings to connect with people from literally all over the world to ensure that the conversations continued and the transformation of hearts and minds did not cease.
There are many other examples we could share but we wanted to at least share a few. This blog gives us hope! It’s proof that despite the challenges we face there are always people willing to show up and do the work, to care for one another and push forward. We are honored to have the opportunity to come alongside them and do our small part. Thank you TRIO clients, colleagues and supporters for all that you do. Together, we are stronger!
